True Grit

Hello my dear readers!  I love to pass on any kind of artsy fartsy recommendations and I would not be doing my duty if I didn’t give the movie True Grit it’s rightful dues.  Despite my lack of interest in the Cohen brothers’ last film, I think they possess a grand and delightful gift of fresh filmmaking.

I recommend this movie highly if you enjoy hilariously witty dialogue, beautiful directing, understated originality, brilliant acting on all parties involved (particularly the surprising and impressive Haillie Steinfield and the always magnificent Jeff Bridges), and the appeal of the rough Western life with all the charm of a Spaghetti Western minus the cliches and John Wayne (You heard me correctly. I don’t like John Wayne).

I walked out of the movie theatre thoroughly impressed and grateful for what I believe to be a remarkable season for cinema.  It’s the most pleased I have been in quite some time.

I really like that you spelled “theatre” like that. I do it all the time, no idea why…

Because you recognize the satisfaction of pretending you are British. There is a whole disease called “Anglophilia” that applies to people who have a severe love of English things. Such as my Dad.
